For any subjects such as math, science, social studies and literature, students tend to earn their grade based on a test of what they learned. However, Physical Education is a class that cannot be graded based on just a test. Some may say it is an easier class to get a better grade in, but some may not think the same way. Physical education makes it so that even if students strive to their limit but cannot reach 100%, while others tend to reach 100% easier with a healthier body.
Physical education is heavily based on whether students have exercised regularly or not. Students should not expect get a 100% by not giving their best efforts in class or by not exercising on their own. So when the mile run or the pacer test comes up students, know for themselves whether they are ready or not. However, some students who are not physically fit may argue that this is not fair. For those who tend to stay inside and read have a disadvantage compared to students who like to play sports and exercise regularly. |

Exercising should not only be done daily because of a grade, but to improve the quality of your life. Exercise is absolutely critical in maintaining a healthy body, and students have to understand that this will help their body and future by making daily exercises part of their life.
A PE teacher at SIS, Mr. Munro, and several other students, were asked what is more important between achievement and effort. Students and Mr. Munro concluded that achievement and trying their best is equally important as students should be graded on their improvement of fitness level over several practices. A reasonable solution would be in the beginning of the school year students will take a pretest to determine their current fitness level compared to others in the grade. They will be put on two different groups. This way students will be able to concentrate on reaching their improved goal, and be with students with similar fitness ability. Physical Education is there for the good of the students. Physical Education helps students get the appropriate amount of exercise for them to be healthy. However the problems happen when some people have advantage over some when it should be graded on how hard they try. |
