It is always rather sad to see someone you’ve known go their way and move on to a new life. Today, we are focusing on Mr. Rider, the current drama director and teacher at Seoul International School. Mr. Rider will not be here for the next school year because he will be leaving for the Middle East.

Mr. Rider teaches both 6th graders and high schoolers. When asked what the difference is between these two groups, he replied, saying that 6th grade is the most appropriate age to learn drama because not only do they have a mature sense of responsibility, but they have brilliant creativity. On the other hand, he also praised high school students because they are very smart, are highly responsible, and know exactly what to do and how to do their job. He also mentioned that high schoolers are not shy of acting and that they have the capability to do more than younger students.

The peak of the interview was “How would you rate SIS on scale of 1- 10?” He said that SIS students would be given a 10 out of 10, but at the end, he added that the facilities were only 7 out of 10 because our current auditorium is not versatile enough for different-sized productions to be shown. He said that he would miss SIS because of all the fun events, such as the bazaar and the field day. He stated that he would miss not only SIS and the students but Korea as a whole
It is always helpful to look back before moving on to a fresh, new challenge to conquer. Goodbye, Mr. Rider. A lot of us, both staff and students, will miss you dearly. We wish you luck in your teaching career in the future. |
