Within the six years that Mr. Faulk has stayed at Seoul International School, he has made a massive contribution to the SIS community. He served as an active member of the School Council Committee and is currently the leader of the Language Arts Committee in the Elementary Department. His fellow colleagues describe him as “hunky”, “genius”, “cool”, while his students say he is “enthusiastic” and “fun”.
During the first few years of his career at SIS, Mr. Faulk was a 1st grade teacher in the elementary department. Countless students and teachers recalled that he was constantly making his class laugh. “He was really enthusiastic,” states Clare Kim (4), a student in his class. She also mentioned how she will miss him when he leaves. However, it was not only her that appreciated his class. Mr. Faulk said that he also learned from his experience at SIS. “My experience at Seoul International School has been a really positive one,” said Mr. Faulk. “I really enjoyed the kids at Seoul International School, as well as meeting and working with colleagues here. It's been a really positive environment, and I’m really going to miss it.” In school, Mr. Faulk works diligently to come up with literacy initiatives, but there is another side of Mr. Faulk that numerous students are unaware of. He is actually a professional photographer that got many of his works printed in international publications, such as Hong Kong Express UO, Groove Magazine, The Korea Herald, and many more. “I am an aspiring fashion photographer,” stated Mr. Faulk when asked about his photography. Moreover, he will be carrying his avidity for photography and his love for teaching students as he takes his next step in the journey of his career. “ He and I are going to move to Tokyo, Japan and we’re going to work in an international school there. We’re just going to explore Japan and see what is has to offer,” tells Mrs. Faulk. All in all, Mr. Faulk has been an inspiration to the elementary students for his lively spirit and rigorous efforts. He has also been a joy to his colleagues for lightening up the mood and always “striving to achieve success.” Memories of him as a teacher, a photographer, or even as a friend, will be cherished in the hearts of the members of Seoul International School. |
