There are numerous teachers leaving this year, and Mrs. Lambie, teacher of AP 2D Design, Design 1 and 2, and also Photography, is one of them. She first came to SIS in 2011 and has been part of the school staff for four years, so she will definitely be missed by the high school art community.
“She creates this atmosphere where you feel really comfortable to exchange comments and ideas with the teacher” said Dongwoo [Leo] Lee (11). Mrs. Lambie is a dedicated art teacher who teaches four subjects at the high school in SIS. When asked why she enjoys teaching art, she answered, “I think art allows a teacher to do lots of different things every year and the kids are so individual. I also like art because we get to be a little bit closer sometimes with the kids, because we talk about their ideas and their hopes and their dreams and their wishes, and so I think that that relationship is a special thing that you get from an art class.” This shows how close Mrs. Lambie is with her students, especially the ones in her AP classes who have been with her for a long time. Not only does she have a great relationship with students, she is close with her fellow teachers as well. “She is a great member of the art department. She is enthusiastic, and she helps the kids produce amazing artwork. I’m really going to miss her organization and advocating for the art department.” says Mrs. Lopez. We asked Mrs. Lambie for the reason why she was leaving our school, and she answered that it is mostly because of her son. “He’s in elementary school but we would like him to be in a school thats a little more international, and also just living in different countries gives him a world perspective, so our goal for him is to go to a couple of different schools at least.” Mrs. Lambie and her family will be moving to Austria after the school year is over. After having taken care of so many art classes for the last few years, we know that the SIS staff and students will be sad to see her leave, but also wish her family the best of luck in Austria. |
