Seoul International School has successfully celebrated 37 years of graduation ceremonies. These graduation ceremonies have lifted the same burden off of all the graduate’s shoulders. Before the celebration, all these graduates have gone through the same process. Behind all those eager smiles on their faces, they have confronted emotional stress during their college application process for their dream schools.
With the limited time and massive amounts of schoolwork, pressure was placed on the shoulders of the seniors. It was a burdensome journey as they tried to finish their college applications so that they could get into their desired school. The seniors experienced nervous tensions and anxiety greatly. They needed to contribute a lot of painstaking time for writing their college applications because the colleges/universities would look over them thoroughly for consideration. For a successful acceptance to college/university, seniors had to be meticulous with their work. Mr. Schneider, Dean of Students explained how college/university applicants arranged meetings and had their applications improved or revised so that they could have a better chance of getting into their college/university of choice. Without his revision advice for their college applications, many seniors would not be able to graduate and go to reputable colleges/universities. Being able to be accepted into reputable colleges/universities would allow the school’s reputation among the college board to improve. It would be beneficial for future graduates from SIS because it would raise their possibilities of getting into esteemed colleges/universities. Mr. Schneider, says that “In all honesty, it is your academic history.” Academic history begins at 9th grade, and maintaining a good GPA is an important component for the college application. Many students embarked on their scholastic journey to college/university from their first year as a freshmen. When they reached 11th and 12th grade, many students started to face emotional breakdowns. The fear of getting rejected struck the students along with the apprehension that had built up inside the seniors who had completed their college applications. With these nervous tensions building up inside themselves, seniors could not control their emotions and often panicked. Fortunately, many were also able to be patient and steady with their college applications. They took their time to schedule for studying, fixing errors in their college applications, and receiving advice from Mr. Schneider. By using their time wisely and focus on finishing the applications, a lot of seniors were able to go to highly regarded universities and colleges as a result. |
