SIS students are bright, intellectual, creative, and outstanding. They usually grow up as the most creative and the most successful, accepted into outstanding colleges. This pattern is uniform throughout the student body, but something else is also common, and it is related to diet. Most students do not eat a breakfast, or eat a very unhealthy one. Out of the tenten students asked, eight students replied that they do not eat a breakfast in the morning. If this pattern continues, the student body will fail to function due to the lack of proteins and nutrients.
Many people claim that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and there is a very legitimate reason for that. Breakfast provides the energy and nutrients that are essential for any working person, that including students, engineers, etc. The time period between breakfast and lunch is colossal, and failing to eat a healthy and filling breakfast will cause the consumption of snacks that contain a lot of sugar and fat. Also, breakfast provides the human body with vitamins, which help prevent deficiencies. All of this comes from one meal that is missed by the many students who attend schools, especially SIS. The problem comes with time. Students come from all over Seoul, and departure times are varied. However, the average departure time is about 7:00-7:20. SIS students have an extremely busy schedule, and usually sleep very late because of the overloading homework from schools and hagwons. The lack of sleep results in later wake up times, and students are required to skip breakfast if they want to catch the bus. This results in a vicious cycle, where the students get less and less sleep, and they do not have a chance to eat a healthy breakfast. The solutions are simple and various. First, students should avoid procrastinating to get a little more sleep, so they have time to eat breakfast. Second, student should eat a simple, but filling breakfast. This can include, eggs, whole-grain bread, cereal, fruits, yogurt, and some kind of fruit juice. The benefits of these vary, but they all have similar benefits. They all provide nutrients, proteins, vitamins, which are essential, especially for the student to study hard. If SIS students want to become even more successful, they must remember that, “A breakfast not eaten is a test poorly taken.” |
