Mr. Lambie came to SIS in 2011, after having spent his previous 15 years at other international schools in Malaysia and Thailand. Mr. Lambie taught English to the high school students, before starting to work in the Administration department. Mr. Lambie is a motivated teacher who always cares for the students and works cooperatively with the school’s faculty. The administrative department, as well as the high school students, has always been looking up to him.
“Mr. Lambie has made a major change in SIS with the assessment policy of taking retests and his determination to stand next to it, despite opposition from others, has allowed another chance for the students.” states Mr. Munro. We asked Mr. Lambie and how he felt about the assessment policy he came up with. “I think that even though some teachers and students have complained about taking retests, I want to give the students a chance to take a retake instead of having them think that they’ll do a better job on the next test.” The main goal Mr. Lambie is trying to achieve, is to try to change the attitudes of students and for them to strive for better communication with the teachers. He wants the students to build stronger relationships with the teachers. He tells students that grades are important, but grades shouldn’t be what they focus on the most, and that the learning process is the most important. “He is a very strong leader who knows what the students are struggling with and one who helps them reach success.” Dr. Amy Valerio says. After leaving SIS, Mr. Lambie and his family will be moving to Vienna, Austria, where he will take the same position at the American International School of Vienna. He says that SIS has been a wonderful experience and is also looking forward to having a great time in Austria as well. Mr. Lambie’s hard work will surely be missed and the high school department will not be the same without him. Still, the SIS community wishes the best of luck for Mr. Lambie and his family. |
